To be a shining light - easier said than done?

During a soccer match yesterday, i came across this pretty hostile player from the opposition. He went in for every challenge with malice and even used vulgarities that will make Marco Materazzi proud.

After talking to some of my friends, I realised that the team we are playing against are christians! Imagine how i felt? A couple of my friends who are pre-believers also expressed the same sentiments.

The thought of living to glorify Him in this world came to my mind immediately. It is not easy. There are so many instances, circumstances that make this calling hard to follow. We are to put to death our earthly attitudes and embrace the higher life, even though at times reacting in the earthly way does indeed satisfy our natural need for 'revenge' or pay-back. The widely understood 'turn the other cheek' is often tossed far back behind our brains when we face such situations.

This is just something that occured to me that sparked this question, hopefully it has sparked some questions for you too..
